We are excited to announce Harbor Homeschool will be adding a (Kindergarten-5th grade) Hybrid program for the 2025-2026 school year!
A hybrid school is an educational model that combines at home and in-person learning. It is a full-time school program consisting of 2 days (Wednesdays & Fridays) of in-person learning and 2-3 days of learning at home.
In-Person Learning Days:
On our in-person learning days, our instructors work with students in the classroom. We use a blend of traditional, classical, and hands-on learning strategies to assist students in mastering the material.
Students attend Harbor for core classes (English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 am to 3 pm, and they can choose 2 elective courses in-person on Thursdays and/or Fridays or online courses through Oxford Virtual Academy.
Parent facilitation:
Parents or guardians facilitate home learning days. Students typically have 2-3 days of at-home learning each week. Harbor provides families with the textbooks, materials, and curriculum needed to help with core subjects.
The support and supervision of parents is essential for successful at home learning. Parents play an active role in supporting their child’s learning and can choose a schedule that works for their child. They help make sure students are ready for in-person learning days.
Curriculum:
We've selected curriculum that is well-respected among homeschool families*. Some recognizable titles: Saxon, Story of the World, All About Reading, etc.
*Harbor values and respects all families, regardless of their political or religious beliefs. We are independent from any political, religious, or secular organizations and maintain a neutral stance on these matters, prioritizing education above all else.
Admission/Eligibility:
Our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and effective learning environment for all students. We have put in considerable effort in to develop a program that works well for many families, but we are not equipped to support all students and situations. If your family is experiencing any unique circumstances that may impact your child's learning or anything that would prevent you from serving as their learning coach, please note this in your application. If your child has a learning or behavioral disability or has special needs, please note this in their application.
This will help us assess whether our program can meet your child's specific needs.
Cost:
Once admitted, families have the option to self-pay for Harbor Hybrid or apply for funding through Oxford Virtual Academy.
If you are planning to enroll your student(s) in our Hybrid program, please fill out this application. Our admissions team will review each candidate family and evaluate whether Harbor Hybrid is a good fit. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions. Thank you!
